Era comparison Video Evaluation
Within my era video, I compared the 3 different eras and their fashion, these were; the 20s, the 60s and the 80s. I decided that I would make my video like a vlog and talk about each era’s fashion individually and specifically about the most iconic trends in each era. I started with the 20s and went in chronological order, I gave a brief overview of what each eras fashion trends were like whilst also adding images whilst I was talking portraying the different trends. I felt that my approach of a vlog was the most effective approach as I was able to communicate exactly what I wanted to say, it also made it a little bit more interesting as I was really able to express my opinion of each eras trends as well as being able to add in images and music to make the video more effective. I decided to choose the eras that I have chosen as whilst I was creating my sketchbook about the different fashion trends between the eras 1900-1990 they were the three that appealed to me the most I also felt as if some of my fashion style today is slightly influenced by these eras which made me believe that I would be more confident in talking about these trends.
I believe that all three eras the 20s, 60s and the 80s all have had massive influence on today’s fashion as I can see even in just my own style different aspects of each era. I believe that the 1920’s slip dress has had a massive influence on today’s fashion as it is an extremely popular garment that a lot of women choose to wear even now, it is important because it lets people enjoy wearing a simple style of dress and makes them feel very glamorous due to the fact that it relates back to the 20s which was such a glamorous era. I also believe that the 60s was probably one of the biggest fashion influences of today’s fashion especially with the mini skirt as the mini skirt/dress is seen all over in many different styles and prints, I feel as if the mini skirt is still a very important fashion statement even in this day and age as I feel that it shows the confidence of the person wearing it and also to this day portrays the freedom that women still have and reminds us of such an iconic moment in time when the mini skirt was produced.
Finally, I also believe that the 80s are also a massive influence to fashion in this day and age due to the fact that having a high waist in fashion these days is key, also the sporty side to the 80s fashion such as, tracksuits, leggings etc. are all very important even now to create fashion statements and even the simplicity of being able to have gym wear. Overall I believe that all the eras have influenced fashion today due to the fact the majority of our trends all have aspects of each era in.
Overall I believe that my video thoroughly informs my viewer of what the different trends in each era were due to the fact that I was able to clearly go into detail about each era and the trends that they had, I believe that I was also able to show the different trends clearly through the images that I used that had the different trends in them. However, if I was to change anything I would maybe add a visual get the look of each era to now to portray just how much fashion in them eras have influenced fashion now rather than just speaking about them, to make the video more interactive and fun.
