25 The meaning of the word “cachopo” It does not seems that the Royal Spanish Academy of Language has planned to expand the definition of the word cachopo. For the moment, for this institution, it is a “tree’s trunk dry and hollow”. It ignores the meaning that dominates in Asturias. There are no references about the exact reason why the two fillets stuffed began to receive that name. Although Ángel Pariente commented in a 1981 article published in the Journal of Spanish Philology, that term is used especially in Asturias and Galicia, and with the meaning that appears in the DRAE. Therefore, it is not unreasonable to conclude that the case of a comparison in which the dry trunk are the steaks, and the recess, the possibilities of landfill.
