When we started ZOOM in 2014 , we created the following mission statement :

Zoom Autism Magazine LLC , the digital magazine whose mission is to inspire , answer questions , ease minds , focus on positive solutions and recognize autistic individuals and the family members who support them on their journeys . Our content will always be respectful to the autistic community , realistic , hopeful and zoom in on every milestone , every accomplishment , for none are too small or insignificant .

That statement still very much embodies the values we hold today , but it is time to take ZOOM to the next level with the intention of reaching more people and being able to include more autistic individuals . One step to making this happen is to add an Advisory Board made up of valued autistic community leaders who we respect .
We , the publishers , believe that an advisory board will make a DIFFERENCE ! You see , we recognize that we are neurotypical parents , and as such , we will never truly understand what it is like to be autistic . To remain faithful to our mission statement and respectful to the autistic community , we need direct autistic input , advice and direction .
So we thought long and hard about who we felt would be the perfect fit for us . We were not looking for a group of “ YES MEN / WOMEN ” but , instead , a select group of individuals who we trust and admire . Each of the six individuals who we reached out to bring their own unique knowledge , life experiences and skills that will more effectively guide ZOOM in the direction we wish to take it . We are so grateful that they graciously accepted our offer .
