One of the main objectives of the Partnership is to develop and to implement the local development strategy for promotion of sustainable development of the territory. Starting from 2010, the Partnership is implementing the local development strategy. In order to inform the public about implementation of the strategy, in 2012 the Partnership has launched a series of booklets devoted to the development of areas important for fisheries and providing information about the projects implemented through support of the European Fisheries Fund, the projects received support in 2010 and 2011. This edition has summarized the information regarding the projects implemented in 2013 and 2014. The sea-coast boundary of the Partnership territory is 94.87 km, i.e. one fifth of total length of the entire Latvian coastline. The long coastal area and the amount of inland waters have contributed to development of the fishing enterprises in the Partnership territory - coastal and inland water fishing, aquaculture development and fish processing. Due to the comparatively high rates of employment in the fisheries sector, the Partnership territory is an area important for fishery, therefore support of the European Fisheries Fund is available for its development. In this booklet we have summarized the information regarding the projects implemented by local authorities, associations and foundations, as well as entrepreneurs. The projects have resulted in public infrastructure renewed and created, access improved to lakes and coastline, good and viable ideas implemented, in general contributing to the competitiveness of our territory. The priority determined for the strategy in the field of fisheries is a support for the development of areas important for fisheries. In order to ensure this support, 3 activities have been set out: 1 Reconstruction and development of the areas where fishery activities are carried out, 2 Development of small scale infrastructure and services related to fisheries and tourism 3 Restructuring, re-orientation of the economic activity and diversification of the activities, The total EFF support for implementation of the strategy during this programming period is EUR 2,041,569.67.
