"There is a street in my town named after Chkalov. In this street you can see a monument to Valery Chkalov, Hero of the Soviet Union. This soviet test pilot made the first flight from Moscow to Vancouver over the North Pole without any stop in 1937. It took him more than 63 hours to do it. His plane covered more than 8000 km. Valery tested more than 70 planes. He died on the15th of December in 1938 in a plane crash. There appeared a number of sculptures to him in different towns and cities of our country after his death. This monument was erected in Zhukovsky in 1987."
