Telepathy | Kenneth P. Gurney

I hear people talking

even when there is no one around.

I think it is my inability

to let go of a conversation.

Though sometimes I like to think

that words love to hang around my ears

and regularly rearrange themselves

into marvelously colorful patterns.

For a time I believed I heard the trees

talking among themselves.

If this was the era before Christ

I would claim this phenomena

to be the voice of God

and that I was a holy man.

Since this happens now, today,

I make no claims, but get my blood checked

to determine if low vitamin B levels

might engender my hearing

of those people who are no longer

in my presence.
