Progressive Culture | Jeremy Garnett

Dedicated to Felicity, for the inspiration of a phrase.

Our culture of Progress!

Where knowledge is cash;

cash turns to metal

and the ceiling is glass.

A culture of progress

away from the soul.

We’ve turned our backs on the heartlands,

forgot we came from the trees.

The culture of progress.

Rome’s circus, a reality;

newspapers, the soothsayers;

our leaders, the beasts.

Well cultured progress.

We ignore the meat-game

to be fed like young cuckoos

from gullets oft strange.

A culture for progress,

but we’re stuck in demand

of everything in immediacy.

Biting our own hand.
