I recently saw a picture on Facebook that said “My kids are my reason, not my excuse” in reference to motivation why some moms keep pushing forward with their health and fitness. Before becoming a mom I said this to my clients who were moms. And now that I am a mom I believe this even more.

I see firsthand how much of a sponge my child is and he only knows what he sees in our home.

I wish more children had parents that had some knowledge of healthy eating and fitness. But this is not the case. So many adults are unhealthy and overweight /obese that it becomes a challenge to teach their kids healthy behaviors. And that is completely unfair to these little humans that rely on us for everything and deserve the best foundation possible.

Obesity is rising in the ranks of kids. According to the CDC “the percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 18% in 2012. Similarly, the percentage of adolescents aged 12–19 years who were obese increased from 5% to nearly 21%.” Children shouldn’t be getting Type-2 diabetes, hypertension, and high blood pressure. But as the obesity rates increase, so do “lifestyle” diseases.

So how do we combat this trend? You must seriously work on yourself first. If you have an unhealthy relationship with food, get to the bottom of that. Cook food as a family and eat dinner together. Find an activity that doesn’t feel like exercise, but gets the family moving. You may need to look into outside help for a while to root yourself in wellness, but your family is worth it!

My online clients get put in a secret group. That's where we communicate and support each other. That's also where I put the workouts. All of my ladies are busy. Some moms, some not, but still with a full life. So I aim for efficient and effective workouts that can be done at home or at the gym. You also get a ton of access to me for questions. So if you put in the work and energy, I'll help you get results. Online groups are beginning each month. Inbox me for more information. II
