You’ve got heart….take care of it!
So February is all about the heart, right? Well did you know what else besides Valentine’s Day that February is known for? It’s also American Heart month, Body Awareness Month, Heart Disease Awareness Month, National Cancer Prevention Month, National Awareness Month, and even National Cherry Month to name a few. But the central theme here is about matters of the heart…love and health.
Do you love yourself enough to take care of you? Most of us don’t think about how important it is to keep our bodies healthy with clean eating, exercise, and keeping our emotional well being in check. There is a fine line of balance and when one of these is lacking, complete health cannot be achieved.
Did you ever notice how fruits and veggies resemble the body part they help the most? Mother Nature is truly a genius! Strawberries are a perfect match for heart health because they not only contain those essential elements but they are also naturally non-fat, sodium and cholesterol-free with one serving (about 8 strawberries or 1 cup) contains a mere 50 calories. Strawberries also help control three of the risk factors associated with heart disease: high cholesterol, high blood pressure and high homocysteine levels. So go ahead….give your sweetheart a few dark chocolate covered strawberries…it’s all good and heart healthy! And love is a healthy emotional response that truly make us feel good both inside and out. Now, isn’t it nice to be good to you?
