Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the mechanism and the basic performances of a seawater
desalination system using heat pump. The seawater desalination system using a heat pump is a kind
of evaporation method and obtains high temperature steam by evaporating seawater using the heat
of heat pump condenser. In order to produce fresh water by heat exchange with low temperature air
in the heat pump evaporator. However, unlike conventional evaporation method, it can be applied in
small scale and heat recovery rate can be increased through heat pump cycle. In this experiment, the
heat obtained by heat pump cycle is transferred to seawater through plate heat exchanger, and 3Way
valve is installed to produce hot water of 70~80°C quickly.
