5. Conclusions
This paper demonstrates the application of contactless ultrasonic method to monitoring
mechanical properties of PCA‐LWA mortar plates. The experimental data demonstrate the significant
beneficial potential of applied ultrasonic method for condition assessment of phase change materials.
Based on the work presented in this study, the following conclusions are drawn:
‐ The applied contactless ultrasonic system enables acquisition of meaningful waveform data
through PCA‐LWA mortar plates under controlled temperature.
‐ The PCA‐LWA mortar plate have distinct characteristics and advantage on energy storage.
The mechanical property such as elastic modulus is decreased by maximum 56% and is fully
recovered.
‐ Optimal application to concrete will depend on the amount of PCA‐LWA. For example, less
change of mechanical property is important while having high efficiency of energy storage.
