3.3. Communication Flow between PMS and EMS
A socket client and a server were designed to implement communication between PMS and
storage and between EMS and storage for remote monitoring and control of ESS. The flow chart is as
follows:
Database queries for data transmission and reception via direct IP and port forwarding are
vulnerable to security issues. Therefore, data collection and facility remote control are implemented by
applying socket packetization and transmission technology.
Information collected about all ESS operating facilities by PMS is transmitted to socket server in
WAS installed externally through “socket client”. The socket server that has received sockets from PMS
analyzes the packets and stores them in DB Storage.
EMS performs monitoring by processing real‐time data and cumulative data based on data stored
in DB, and by using socket client manufactured for control in WAS to remotely control ESS in EMS.
The WAS socket client sends a facility control command socket to the PMS socket server and saves
the operation history by transmitting the transmission details to DB Storage. The PMS socket server
receiving the operation/control command from the EMS analyzes the socket packet and operates and
controls the ESS based on the analysis results.
