Abstract: Building Information Modeling (BIM) is gaining significant momentum around the world,
producing new ways of analyzing models in ways that were not previously possible. Facility
Management (FM), on the other hand, is all about maintaining accurate data, knowing where your
assets lie and how to fix things that are broken, and also being able to respond quickly to unknown
issues in order to maintain all operations in building projects. The study is aimed to investigate the
perception of the professionals in the UAE and the integration between BIM and FM with regard to
its benefits by type and duration of experience they have. Four groups of professionals are studied; (i)
professionals with less than 10 years of experience in FM consultancy industry, (ii) professionals with
more than 10 years of experience in FM consultancy industry, (iii) professionals with less than 10 years
of experience in FM delivery industry, and (iv) professionals with less than 10 years of experience in
FM delivery industry. In the study, in order to reach the research goals, an online‐based questionnaire
survey has been conducted among professionals in the field to explore the current standing of the
topic in the country. The results revealed that more than 30% of the responded organizations in the
UAE have already been adapting BIM for FM purposes.
