As the thermal conductivity of fiber glass core material VIP is 0.00177W/m∙K, the thermal
resistance of the 20mm thick VIP is 11.3m2∙K/W which corresponds to thermal transmittance of
0.088W/m2∙K, which satisfies the thermal transmittance of Passive House of 0.15W/m2∙K.
Figure 12 shows the compared thickness of fiber glass core VIP and EPS to get the thermal
transmittance of 0.12W/m2∙K for Zero Energy Building.
Figure 12. Insulation thickness to get the thermal transmittance of 0.12W/m2∙K
From figure 12, we can see that 20mm‐thick fiber glass core VIP can be substituted for 280mm‐
thick EPS.
Figure 13 shows various architectural applications of VIP.

Figure 13. Various architectural applications of Vacuum Insulation Panel
From figure 13, we can see that Vacuum Insulation Panel is used as building insulation on the
inside and outside of a wall and under the ceiling and on the floor of buildings.
