four walls, only two. In the center of the house, there must be two spaces with the same size so you can put the food and the birds can eat it. The house must have a roof that covers the food. After the house is constructed, you can paint it with bright paints, so birds are attracted to the house. When everything is finished, hang the house high on a tree. Finally, just record the data. You can record data by the weight; you can start with 50 grams. Record the data weekly. Data Analysis and Conclusions: If we put the same amount of wheat and white bread in the same location, then birds will prefer wheat bread because of what it is made of, which are seeds, and birds love to eat seeds. The experiment rejected our hypothesis because birds actually ate more white bread. Birds eat more white bread than wheat bread. Even though at the beginning of the experiment birds ate more wheat bread, the next two weeks they ate more white bread; they ate about 20 or 30 grams per week. We think this happened because of the taste of the bread and its color. White bread has a lighter color than the wheat bread. Our white bread was kind of yellow, which we think attracted birds more than the brown, boring, wheat bread color. We really thought birds would be more attracted to wheat bread because of the seed, but apparently, birds preferred white bread which has no seeds. Something we could have done to improve our experiment was to put the house in a more visible place and to paint it with lots of colors, not just three, and that the colors were much brighter. These results have proved us wrong. We thought birds liked more wheat bread, but they like more white bread. Now we know more about this topic and know what birds prefer to eat. A new question for a next experiment could be: Does the color of the bird feeder determine the amount of white bread birds eat? Zasqua Jounal 2017 / 5
