ZAMORA LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE July 2015 | Page 4

Gone are the days it would seem, when the trendiest youth from around Zambia would sport the latest European fashion or dress to emulate their favourite musicians from the U.S.

Nowadays the trend setters are draped in the latest "Afro Chic"

fashion, traditionally inspired modern outfits made from beautifully patterned African textiles.

Whether custom made or from the collections of high fashion designers from the countries blossoming fashion industry, the look has certainly come of age #trending.

More than just popular culture however, is the trend towards embracing a unique and home grown style of dress part of a bigger cultural story?

In this issue we showcase some of the work from a few of the countries designers and take an in depth look inside the industry.

THE IDENTITY OF THE AFRICAN MILLENIAL EXPRESSED THROUGH FASHION
