"Roldan inspired us to live in the moment and take on our passions. He taught us that the only person you should strive to make happy is yourself and we will be forever grateful for him. "
On the 23rd, Roldan took us to the village of Llachapa, which was where he met his wife Mary, ten years ago. There he told us about how he built a home in 3 months on land he acquired from his father-in-law. He moved his family here from the city of Iquitos because of the pandemic. He did not know how to build his home, but asked for help from the community. He was so proud to show us his home. He talked about his village and family with clear passion. Roldan followed his heart with enthusiasm and
honored those around him, making him a joy to be around. Roldan was our guide throughout our entire experience. He was always incredibly willing and eager to translate Spanish for us, answering every question we had, which we all immensely appreciated. Roldan was incredibly supportive of every one of us, encouraging us to expand beyond our comfort zones throughout the entire experience. He used humor to make all of us feel appreciated and he motivated us to be adventurous. Whenever we showed an interest in something, he made sure it happened, like when we asked to see his village.
