missed the most is that it taught me what it
is like to live in the moment. Being in the Amazon forces a change in mindset if you allow it. Being away from your normal life is so challenging at times but I learned to allow this un comfort because that is the only way I can ever truly grow.
What’s next?
I really truly want to continue learning from the villages. I want to figure out what would allow them to prosper even more as a community. I think collaborating with my class we can come up with something amazing that will really benefit the community. I can see myself continuing on this type of work even into my adult life and I believe it is starting to flourish a new passion of mine.
What’s next?
I will never forget that I am the one living my life. I will never forget how to reconnect with myself when life gets too hectic or moves too fast. More natural ways of life have been slowly integrated into my life; such as making fresh juice from the produce that we buy, and reusing plastic bags. Most importantly - simply living and not overcomplicating aspects of life that have simple solutions through having time to stop and think. I have been reflecting daily and that has helped me process my thoughts. I am grateful that everything I learned in the Amazon has not left my soul. I will continue to learn about other ways of living and keep an open mind to new experiences. I will continue to grow as a person because of my faith and experiences from Sacred Heart and I will keep moving forward with the tools given to me from this amazing experience in the Amazon Rainforest.

What’s next?
I want this to be only the start of my journey. I want to change myself but also continue to make an impact on the community in Peru. For myself, I want to do some more reflecting and decide what it is I want to consciously work towards. It’s impossible to completely exit the cycle of every day life, but for me, it’s about finding what’s truly important and recognizing that there is so much more beyond just myself. I want to be a better person and it’s all about the baby steps I can take towards reaching that goal. As for the community in Peru, I want to start figuring out more about what it would take to help make more bibliotecas for the communities in the villages. I want to start taking steps towards a successful Night of Exploration as well as continuing to talk and share about my experience. I want to find out what it all means to me in the big picture and expand on that not only in the following months but also much further into the future.
What’s next?
I think following through the design thinking process and really working to get my mom to go on the summer trip. I want her to see this first hand. I also want to have a really successful night of exploration and give back to the community that gave us so much.
