STRATEGIC GOAL ONE By 2019 the YWCA is the leading advocacy organisation for young women in SA Over the past year YWCA Adelaide has focused advocacy efforts towards the prevention of violence against women, through a Whole of Community approach. As part of our successful the Rise Above the Pack campaign we have been continuing to deliver Bystander Intervention Workshops to workplaces and community groups across South Australia, including for several SA Government departments as part of their White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation Process. YWCA Adelaide has presented at national and international conferences on our Respectful Relationships Education programs. We have also participated in a number of key consultations on key issues for women, including on the 3rd Phase of the National Action Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children, consultations with Our Watch on prevention work, and the Adelaide City Council on women’s safety. Over the past year we have provided submissions on the Decriminalisation of Sex Work, the Inquiry into ‘Revenge Porn’, the Inquiry into Domestic Violence, and the Domestic Violence Discussion Paper. We have also liaised with the South Australian Government on our commitment to the prevention of violence against women and the need to invest in such efforts in South Australia. Radio Adelaide’s Feminist Insider segment continues to be one of our favourite things to do, giving us the chance every second Tuesday on their Breakfast show to discuss issues of importance to women locally, nationally and globally. At the Reclaim the Night march in October 2015 our Chief Executive Liz Forsyth was invited to speak, highlighting issues of concern for women’s safety and rights. Through our social media we have been building our online engagement, and we’re also excited to be engaging new audiences through our new Instagram page!
