being together. I have so many things for which to be grateful.
On that list is the opportunity that I have to lead such an extraordinary organization. I come to work each day and am surrounded by smart women (and a few good men) who are dedicated to our mission – helping women lift themselves out of poverty.
Each woman that we serve comes to us ready to take action to change her life. She may be the first-time mom, young and scared, but seizing the opportunity to connect with a YW nurse who helps her plan a future for her baby that is filled with love and opportunity. Or the mother of older children, concerned about her health, but forgoing her annual mammogram because she has to choose between getting preventive care or putting food on the table. With the guidance of her YW patient navigator, she will get the services she needs and put her fears to rest.
And finally, she may be the woman who has lived in subsidized housing for over a decade, until she found YW. After committing to

November is one of my favorite months of the year. The heat is finally breaking. There’s a little nip of fall in the air. And the holidays are ahead of us.
