Special Industry Groups( SIGs) focus on a specific discipline or facet of the industry. SIGs are interactive and participatory, and allow you to share common ideas, interests, challenges and best practices with like-minded individuals. These sessions also provide a tremendous opportunity to network with colleagues, exchange business cards and become part of a global network. The following sessions to be offered this year: Alliance SIG and Finance SIG on Wednesday and Retailers and Next Generation SIG events on Thursday.
Alliance SIG: Development Tools For Cities In California and other Western states, cities face the challenge of attracting retailers and developers to underutilized development sites. Cities often spend a great deal of time and money making efforts to plan for economic growth, but have little money or staff time to implement their plans. Similarly, for tenants, developers and real estate investors, the massive amount of research needed to find development sites that have unmet potential and local support for redevelopment can be challenging and expensive. This panel will focus on real world tools that cities and real estate professionals can use to help turn underutilized development sites into real developments within a desirable time frame.
