The Sweet and Sour Fish dish was on the spot; perfect. The ingredients blended well with each other, they complemented each other perfectly. I was never a fan of Fried Frog Legs or any cooking method used to cook frog meat. I dislike the texture of its meat. Mapo Tofu is one of my favorite Chinese dishes. I expected more from the Mapo Tofu. It was under seasoned and its sauce was too runny. The taste was off and the texture was off, too. Moving on to the Pork in Sichuan style. Since it was stated in menu that it was cooked “si chuan” style, we expected si chuan pepper corns, or even just a hint of a spicy kick. It tasted like an ordinary sautéed pork topped with vegetables. The color was a disaster, as disastrous as its taste. it didn’t look appetizing, and it tasted very ordinary. We were expecting a different taste, since it’s going to be the first time for us to taste Sichuan peppercorns, only to find out that the dish didn’t have any. The mango sago’s small pearls were inconsistent in texture but the taste and the flavor of the mango was superb.
Overall, we paid for more or less four thousand two hundred. It was worth it, since we ordered so much. We enjoyed the food as much as we enjoyed the company of each other. But for me, I would prefer eating at a different restaurant if ever I get the chance to go to China town again, because UNO’s flavors have nothing special about them that would make me want to go back and dine with them again. It was a pleasant experience, but I would not recommend this restaurant for its lack of consistency.
