Energy transfer mechanism in Y 2 O 3 nanoparticles doped with Europium and Terbium ions Shynggys Sadyk and Timur Sh. Atabaev* Department of Chemistry, School of Science and Technology, Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan Email: [email protected], [email protected] Abstract The development of new fluorescent nanomaterials is a promising research topic in the field of inorganic chemistry. In this study, spherical Y 2 O 3 nanoparticles doped with europium and terbium ions were successfully prepared using a facile hydrothermal method. Morphology and structural properties of prepared samples were accessed using a range of characterization techniques. PL spectroscopy reveals that the emission spectra of prepared samples consist of several f-f transitions within the Tb and Eu. As the main aim of this study, we investigated the energy transfer mechanism between the Tb and Eu activators. The observed energy transfer mechanism can be successfully utilized for solid-state white light emitting devices. Reference 1. Y. Akita, T. Harada, R. Sasai, K. Tomia, K. Nishiyama. J. Photochem.
