Porphyrin solids for molecular storage and nonlinear optics
Abstract
Here we present coordination polymers based on zinc-nitro interaction. A variety of zinc
metallated and nitro substituted trans-A 2 D 2 -porphyrins are used as building blocks. These
polymers are soluble in organic solvents, thermally stable, and reversibly incorporate guest
molecules. Remarkably, the solvation-to-desolvation and resolvation occurs in the solid state,
and the whole process is monitored by thermal, spectroscopic and diffraction methods. Thus,
these kinds of coordination polymers can be used for selective guest inclusion, especially in
explosive sensing. Also, usage of porphyrin building blocks as nonlinear optical materials will
be presented.
