Greener Approach for Wastewater Treatment Lyazzat Batrasheva Department of Chemistry, School of Science and Technology, Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan Email: [email protected] Abstract Nowadays amount of wastewater from agriculture and industry is increasing which puts it to alarming situation. So, scientists try to come up to alternative solution for treatment that will minimize wastes. One of them is greener approach, which has benefit of being environmentally friendly. In this review, three types were considered: bio-coagulation, usage of zeolites and advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). Bio-coagulation is method of treating water based on using coagulant agent from plants. Zeolites due to their porous structure can reduce chemicals in water. AOPs use radicals that then applied to the organic molecules and produce non-toxic ions. All of the three approaches capable effectively remove pollutants from wastewater and have their own benefits and drawbacks. It seems that bio-coagulation way is more efficient in comparison with due to its high performance, low cost, availability and being biodegradable.
