From the Editors
Dear Readers,
The 2017 Yours Truly publication you are about to experience is an inspired combination of
creativity, passion, and deeply rooted diversity. Its pages are filled with captivating stories,
and expressive visual art that will hopefully inspire you to reflect on your own creative-self.
Contributors include Cascadia College faculty, staff, students, alumni, as well as residents in
the surrounding community.
We are proud of the achievements our editorial team experienced this year. During the
Fall Quarter, we nearly doubled submissions from previous years, ending with a record-
breaking 307 outstanding poetry, prose, and visual art pieces. We then spent our Winter
Quarter challenging ourselves to analyze each piece with an open mind, focusing on form
as it related to content, intention, impact, and finally selecting 86 of the highest quality
pieces for our magazine. The end of this journey leads us to the publication that you hold
in your hand today. Through hard work and dedication, we are pleased to present you with
a little piece of all of us. We hope this inspires you to live creatively, never be afraid to be
who you are, and take risks every day.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit to Yours Truly this year, to our
wonderful staff members, to Cascadia College, to Courtney Putnam for her superlative
leadership throughout the school year, and to you, our adoring fans!
