Yours Truly 2016 / Cascadia College / Bothell, WA | Page 4
From the Editors
Last week I was asked what Yours Truly is.
My response? “Yours Truly is Cascadia College’s creative arts magazine.” I didn’t have
the words then to say what the true definition
of this magazine is. I do now. Yes, Yours Truly
is Cascadia College’s creative arts magazine,
but that is not all it is. The magazine is, for all
intents and purposes, the voice of the school.
Not just student voices, but faculty as well.
Except, we didn’t stop there. We extended
access to the Bothell community and neighboring high schools.
So I guess Yours Truly is really a voice
for Bothell? That’s kinda weird; isn’t that
what the city government is for? Let me
clarify. Yours Truly is the room. Yours Truly
is the table. Yours Truly is that spot of carpet - where you sit to read a book. Yours
Truly is a traveling voice of people. Yours
Truly is a whisper that oozes from the wood
chairs during a rainy day. Yours Truly is a portable safety net. In your purse, in your car,
in your book bags, Yours Truly is there. Every
year, every edition. The name may change,
but the song remains the same.

Dear Reader,
Yours Truly 2016 is jam-packed
with fascinating stories, the
real-life experiences of authentic people with whom we all rub
shoulders every day. Contributors
include Cascadia College faculty,
staff, and students, as well as residents in the surrounding community. Working with the words
and images within these pages
has inspired in me a renewed
interest in taking time to hear
people’s stories and celebrate
their creativity. The writers and
artists who share within these
pages are open and generous,
sharing their art with all of us, in
spite of such looming dragons as
fear, discouragement, and time
constraints.
Let’s celebrate their creativity,
and be inspired to engage in our
own!
