Tank Man
Bonnie-Jean Heather
Not even a ghost in the soul of China
One man’s flesh battling the might of armor
A will standing firm confronting dogma
His mystery cloaked and bound in ardor
The gauntlet was tossed before might and steel
Two Chinas confused by legend and plight
History was made in a proud appeal
One glorious and tempestuous night
Economies of scale wrought high desires
Future lambasted tired tradition
Smog encroached upon emerging empires
While tank man alone became a beacon
Of courage and might setting new standards
One man cried halt and the world stood still
