Nataliya Gorkina Cascadia College Student Nataliya L. Gorkina published the short story “The Sight of Flowers in the Morning” in this 2016 issue of Yours Truly. Bonnie-Jean Heather Cascadia /Bothell Community Member Livia Halim Cascadia College Student Livia Halim was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1997. Art has always taken a big part of her life. From spending six years at an allgirls school, to studying computer science in Seattle, she continues to draw in her free time. Her motivation is to introduce her culture and philosophy to others. Also, as she pursues her ma jor, she is enthusiastic to integrate creativity into her future projects. I’m recently retired. I have a BA and an MA from Northwest University, and a Professional in Human Resources certification. I enjoy writing and recently self-published a book from years sailing in southern California, Central America, and the Caribbean, called Sailing Toward Faith, available at Third Place Books. I’m now working on a book with all poetry. Elizabeth Hunter Cascadia College Alumna Elizabeth Hunter, an Interdisciplinary Art and Consciousness ma jor at UWB, senses that with the seizure and subsequent masquerade of a free press, artists and comedians play an ever more crucial role in scrutinizing the emperors’ attire. She holds that art is also a bridge between the scientist’s kingdom of matter and the Shaman’s realm of spirit. Elizabeth is a desperate explorer of borderlands between notions of a sacred self, and a fundamental unified human condition. Compelled to question all contemporary teachings on culture, consumerism, the mind, and the nature of reality, she hopes her work inspires others to do the same. Andrew Paul Kerr Cascadia College Student In my current series entitled “ He’s a Sociopath but he has a Good Heart,” I explore themes of alienation, alcoholism, depression and chance encounters with God. What inspires me to create my pieces is my spiritual journey through addiction to alcohol, and self-abuse, which fueled my depression and left me wanting to die. Through this experience, while living in Tokyo, I became a whole new being filled with light and understanding, and I left my scars visible, but with a different story to tell, that of inspiration and hope. I have previously been published in Beautiful/Decay Magazine in LA, and Paris/Atlantic Magazine through the American University of Paris in Paris, France. Thank you all for your support to get me this far. We are all going to die and that’s ok. www.facebook.com/andrewpaulkerr https://twitter.com/andrewpaulkerr 111
