Why Elvis wasn’t a
good golfer...
-Damon Goddard
Have you ever been on the driving range and seen the
gentlemen going about his swing looking like a bad version
of Elvis doing the hound dog dance? I see this entirely too
often with amateurs and my heart breaks for their poor
knees. This is a significant power leak in the golf swing and
if we could simply add some simple glute (butt) activity
and hip stability in this golf swing we may reduce the risk
of knee injury and possibly add some speed to your swing!
In our last article we discussed ankle mobility and its
impact on the swing sequence. We are going to move
up the chain and discuss knee stability and optimal
hip mobility. This will continue to provide you the best
opportunity to create an optimal swing sequence starting
from the hips.
Let’s start with a simple test: standing in front of a mirror,
shoes off.
Set Up:
Stand with feet shoulder width apart, pointing straight
ahead (no toes pointing outward), with arms extended
directly overhead.
