After playing a course as beautiful as Damme we didn’t think we couldn’t find anything that could match or even top the idyllic scenery that we had previously played within, until we arrived here. The club is set in the grounds of the Chateau by the same name and the words that we write upon this page cannot do justice to its stunning locale. The drive through the grounds to the car park takes you alongside the 9 hole course, the first of three that Sept Fontaines Golf Club offers – Le, Parc, Le chateau the course we ventured out on to, Le Foret. When we met with members at the clubs impressive glass backed driving range and short game area we were informed that the Le Foret was considered the lesser of the two courses, so after our warm up we gorgeous and challenging test of golf for players of all abilities. The beauty of the courses backdrop inspires you to showcase your very best golf as you somehow feel that you owe the stunning landscape the best possible game you can muster. The first hole is a short par 4 and enjoyable way of entering the world of Sept Fontaines golf. After you have driven the buggy through the Marshalls point you wind down to the first tee box. With your back to the Chateau the fairway drops away in front of you before rising again 200 yards in the distance. Bunkers on the left pose a threat to anyone short off the tee but a confident stroke will carry you to the key position, 100 yards away from the pin with a clear line in. A nice easy wedge in to the green and a solid putt on the well-manicured greens can see you start with a birdie and plenty of confidence. As you take in the 2nd and 3rd holes of Le Foret you move away from the more open part of the Chateaus complex and deeper into the forest and it’s the 4th hole where the magnificent par 4 provides the first of a number of tough tests. 43 | YOURCADDY MAG - ISSUE 05
