Hole 12 is wonderful par 5 but it does not contain a
single bunker, instead water can be found down the left
and out of bounds flanks the right to make the tee shot
a true test for all golfers. With the wind in your face the
drive proves to be even more difficult and even when
you have reached the fairway the test continues, the

the finest courses we have ever played.

GOLF
An hour south of Bruges and Damme is the capital
Brussels, 25 minutes from the city lies Sept Fontaines
Golf Club.
After playing a course as beautiful as Damme we
didn’t think we couldn’t find anything that could match
or even top the idyllic scenery that we had previously
played within, until we arrived here. The club is set in
the grounds of the Chateau by the same name and
the words that we write upon this page cannot do
justice to its stunning locale.
The drive through the grounds to the car park takes
you alongside the 9 hole course, the first of three that
Sept Fontaines Golf Club offers – Le, Parc, Le chateau
the course we ventured out on to, Le Foret.
When we met with members at the clubs impressive
glass backed driving range and short game area we
were informed that the Le Foret was considered the
lesser of the two courses, so after our warm up we
gorgeous and challenging test of golf for players of all
abilities. The beauty of the courses backdrop inspires
you to showcase your very best golf as you somehow
feel that you owe the stunning landscape the best
possible game you can muster.
The first hole is a short par 4 and enjoyable way of
entering the world of Sept Fontaines golf. After you
have driven the buggy through the Marshalls point
you wind down to the first tee box. With your back
to the Chateau the fairway drops away in front of
you before rising again 200 yards in the distance.
Bunkers on the left pose a threat to anyone short off
the tee but a confident stroke will carry you to the key
position, 100 yards away from the pin with a clear line
in. A nice easy wedge in to the green and a solid putt
on the well-manicured greens can see you start with a
birdie and plenty of confidence.
As you take in the 2nd and 3rd holes of Le Foret you
move away from the more open part of the Chateaus
complex and deeper into the forest and it’s the 4th
hole where the magnificent par 4 provides the first of
a number of tough tests.
