Will you concentrate on the European Tour
next year or will you play on others like the
Asian and Sunshine Tours in order to fill the
calendar and play golf as early as possible?
“You’re clearly a fashion lover and wear
Bunker Mentality on Tour. As a brand
ambassador how hands on is your role with
the brand?”
I’ll play in whatever I can get in, they’ll be
tournaments where I need invites but I’ll leave
that to my manager, that’s what he gets paid
for.
I’m not fashion designer but I have given them
input on what I need as a professional, fittings,
materials etc. I also can advise them of what
else is in the professional space and what I see
at events. Hopefully they listen!
Who does your team consist of and are they
with you at each event? Who are they and
what do they do?
Every event is different, sometimes I’ll have the
psychologist with me, the coach can’t always
be there as he works out of the US, sometimes
it’s the personal trainer, Chubby (the manager)
makes sure he invests time in me. And I
obviously always have my caddy.
Who is that set to be for next year?
We have identified a list of people, people
that will work well me both socially, a match
of personality etc. and definitely someone
experienced. I can’t tell you who it’s going to
be yet though!
Do you spend time socially with other players
on the tour or is it all work and no play?
No I do make sure I get to enjoy the job, I’ll
spend time with my caddy, evening meals etc.
and also some of the players- good friends like
Jamie Donaldson, Steve Webster, Matthew
Baldwin…
What’s been the highlight of your career so
far and do you think there are more to come?
The Dunhill Links, it’s such a prestigious
tournament, it’s got heritage and it always has
a good, strong field and to beat top players in
a tournament at St. Andrew is always special. I
hope there are more to come though.
