LETTER
FROM THE EDITOR
It’s been a big couple of months for golf.
Jordan Spieths’ invincibility finally waned at The Open,
but only just. The 144th Open at St Andrews, no matter
how drawn out it was made for fantastic viewing. We had
it all, wind, rain, beautiful sunshine, past champions trying
to revisit former glories and amateurs punching way above
their weight. One man prevailed and became a multiple and
deserved major winner, Zach Johnson is the now the 2015
Champion Golfer.
Two golfing faces and voices will no longer be gracing our
screens at any future Open events so we wanted to bid a
farewell to the fantastic mutterings and one liners of Peter
Alliss and the man that introduced 18,995 tour players “on
the tee” Ivor Robson. Golf will miss your fantastic voices.
This issue should reach you just before the start of the PGA
championship and it looks to be a great spectacle. Jordan
Spieth has already spoken out about planning to be a 3 time
major winner by the end of this year and if Rory is back in
action can he challenge the force that the Americans are
bringing? Although Dustin has fallen away and missed out on
the majors thus far in 2015 if he can get his putting to click
we could be in for a battle royal.
With Dustin, Rory, Speith and Johnson getting all the TV
coverage, their manufacturer sponsors are certainly getting
the media bang for their buck, so in this issue we decided to
shed a little more light on some fine equipment from the East
that doesn’t always get its time in the spot light. Your Gear
reviewed in this issue is the new Mizuno JPX 850 driver, the
Miura CB57 Irons and
Honmas’ new range,
these are premium bits
of kit all made in china
Japan.
Cardiff or Mallorca, for
a golfing getting away?
Both destinations are
worlds apart and may
not be at the top of
your list but both really
do have something to offer. Cardiff is our destination for
this issues “weekender” and the high ranking “Leading world
of Golf” Son Gual & Alcanada courses are reviewed in the
Balearic Islands.
We’ve flipped the covers this month and are dedicating this
to the female game. We take a look at women’s “fairway
fashion”, catch up with Golfing World TV’s Anna Whitley
after The Open and chat with Charley Hull about her perfect
fourball, playing on tour and the Solheim Cup.
Oh, and not to forget we have Jordan Spieths’ fitness team
helping you to unleash your swing, the guys at Mindfit golf
helping us to beat our on course golfing demons, and for
those of you that are left scratching your head when hearing
on course chatter we come to the rescue with our a-z of
golf banter.
So let’s get started!
It’s Your Game, Your Golf…
