Jordan Spieth sunk a 30-foot birdie
putt at the third extra hole to win the
Valspar Championship in a dramatic
three-man play-off. Spieth outgunned
Sean O’Hair and Ryder Cup teammate Patrick Reed with a lengthy gain
at the 17th to secure his second PGA
Tour title.
Dustin Johnson returned to the
winners circle after his sabbatical
and picked up 550 Fedex Cup points
as the winner of the WGC Cadillac
Championship. Johnson displayed
tremendous composure down the
notoriously tough finishing stretch at
Doral to snatch a thrilling victory over
J.B Holmes.
Richie Ramsay secured his third
European Tour title with a narrow oneshot victory at the Trophee Hassan II in
Morocco. Ramsay’s up-and-down final
round, a three-under 69 was enough
to hold off the Frenchman and earn
his first title since the 2012 Omega
European Masters. Andy Sullivan
missed the cut with a +5 and with it
a top 50 spot and a shot at his first
Masters appearance.
Trevor Fisher claimed his maiden
European Tour title as well as his
ninth Sunshine Tour win in convincing
style with a -24 par with his nearest
competitor Matt Ford 5 shots behind
him.
Matt Every became the first person to
successfully defend his Arnold Palmer
Invitational title. Henrik Stenson was
the leader with four holes to play but
a succession of bogeys on the last
three holes saw Every sneak pass to
take a 1 shot lead.
South Africa’s George Coetzee
put home advantage to full use to
win his second European Tour title at
the Tshwane Open. Coetzee carded a
flawless final round of 65 to finish one
ahead of compatriot Jacques Blaauw
at Pretoria Country Club.
Padraig Harrington took the win in
Palm Beach. The Honda Classic was
his first on the PGA TOUR since 2008,
got him into the Masters and moved
him to 82nd in the Official World Golf
Ranking.
The Madeira Islands Open, was cancelled due to extreme
weather, it has now been rescheduled to take place in July
at Clube de Golf do Santo da Serra. Strong winds, dense
fog and heavy rain saw the tournament cancelled.
