from illness and showing a poor short game, Woods
came through the Hero World Challenge without
any obvious signs of the back injury that has been
troubling the three time Open champion and if he
can stay in shape, this could be his best bet of a major
in 2015.
The final major of 2015 is the PGA Championship
and this will be held in August at Whistling Straits,
the third time that this course has hosted the
event.
The PGA Championship previously visited
Whistling Straits in 2004 and 2010 and is an open,
rugged course which can be subject to strong winds.
Rory McIlroy has won two of the last three PGA
Championship events and will be looking to retain
his title at Whistling Straits, which given the course
set-up is a strong possibility. Martin Kaymer has good
memories of the course, winning there in 2010 but it’s
the Swede, Henrik Stenson who could pose a major
threat in 2015. Finishing third in the previous two
PGA Championship tournaments, Stenson reached
a career high of second in the world rankings and
also managed career best finishes in the Masters and
the US Open. Recent runner up in the Hero World
Challenge, Stenson will be aiming to go one better
and win the PGA Championship in 2015, which will
be his first major success.
There is little doubt that each and every golf fan will
have their own favourites to win the major tournaments
of 2015 and the likes of Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott,
Justin Rose and Matt Kuchar are sure to challenge
during the course of the year. Whatever the final
results may be, 2015 is set to be an interesting watch
at all of the Majors Tournaments.
