Learn about the Types of
Dental Implants
•
Traditional Dental Bridges
These are the most common and popular types of dental bridges.
They have one or more fake teeth and require dental crowns to
maintain their position. Also called abutments, these bridges are
cemented on to the teeth around your missing tooth. You can opt for
these types of bridges when your natural teeth around the gap are
intact. These bridges are considered quite strong and can replace
molars. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that your dentist
will remove the enamel of the adjacent teeth to fix the bridge.
Those adjacent teeth will also require crowns or else they will
develop complications.

Cantilever Bridges
You will also find another type of bridge called cantilever bridges.
You can use these to replace your missing teeth. While they are
quite the same as the traditional bridges, they do not require
support on the adjacent sides of your missing tooth. Your dentist
will use an abutment on one side of your missing tooth for support.
It means that if you have only one tooth close to the gap, you can
still opt for a cantilever bridge. With these bridges, only one tooth
needs to be prepared by the dentist.
