We urge all Participants to make sure of the Weekend Programme and be on time for all noted schedules. • During the Welcoming Function on Friday Evening, all Rules will be explained and the DRAW’s will take place for the PH’s and the starting Disciplines on Friday evening. • Please be advised that the Prize Giving Function on Saturday Evening will a BLACK TIE EVENT. Participants will be provided with CAMO TIES as is customary with the MACNAB. • Hunt essential Leisure will have their products on Display during the Weekend and participants will be allowed to buy available items at SPECIAL Prices for the weekend only. • Please inform us of Any Special needs or Requests NOT later than the 10th of June. MORE ABOUT MERKEL MACNAB Wakkerstroom was the Capital of the OLD Transvaal during the First and Second Boer Wars, in an effort from President Paul Kruger to take pressure off Pretoria. The Railway line that passes nearby Wakkerstroom, is the Old Pretoria Lorenzo Marques Line that used to Transport all the Gold from the Rand to Europe instead of using the British controlled Durban. All erven in Wakkertsroom was surveyed by Dirk Uys, using a 50-yard long thong cut from and Eland Bull he hunted on arrival at Wakkertsroom. Wakkerstroom is the Third Oldest Town of the Old Transvaal. Special Notes and Rules • Please Remember, we will be in the heart of Winter. Wetlands Country Retreat, where we will be hunting, lies 2000m above Sea Level. • Please bring Gloves, earmuffs and or Anything else that will make your Hunting experience more comfortable in the extreme Cold of Winter. The Temperatures will get better as the day goes along, but come prepared. • We do have Buffalo on the Property and Special Caution must be taken by ALL participating BASIC RULES OF MERKEL MACNAB • Each Contestant will be responsible for one of the Disciplines eg. FIN , FEATHER or FUR • Only once a Discipline has been completed, can the Team move on to the Next Discipline • The Team must be together during all disciplines. • Each Discipline will have more than one team participating at one time. These Teams and their starting Procedures will be drawn on the Friday Evening. All caution must be observed by all Teams when participating. • During the MERKEL Macnab, participants will be using our MERKEL Rifles for the hunt of the Blesbuck and the shooting of the bird. Rods will be supplied for the Fishing Discipline. • If for any reason the Blesbuck is wounded and can NOT be retrieved, the Team will be automatically Disqualified. • If for any reason you wound or can NOT retrieve the Bird, a 5 point penalty will apply on your Teams Score Sheet. • If for any reason you loose your Fly or break the Line during the “Fin” Discipline, you will be penalised 5 Points as a Team. • If any member of the Team is injured during a specific Discipline and can NOT complete the Task, any member of the Team can replace him/her. • ONLY equipment specifically approved and provided by the Organisers will be allowed during the use of the Macnab. • ALL weights and sizes will be confirmed by an Independent Master Measurer approved by SCI and appointed by the Organisers prior to the commencement of the Macnab. His weights and sizes will be Final and binding on the ultimate Results. • ALL Participants will be required to complete and sign a Hunt essential Indemnity Agreement before the start of the Shoot. This will be done on Registration on Friday Afternoon. • The draw for the Sequence of the Disciplines will be done on Friday Evening. • ONLY Teams, Staff and Hunt essential Representatives will be allowed on the Grounds during the Hunt. Family Members and Friends will ONLY be allowed in Pre-Demarcated Areas during the Hunt.
