Each semester, more than 300 students enroll in fine arts courses including art appreciation, music appreciation, war on film, drawing, painting, photography, drama, and internships in the arts. Most courses fill to capacity, and new courses are added due to student demand. The fine arts minor, launched in fall 2013, has already become one of the largest minors on campus. “ Speakers such as Amy Herman allow cadets to place their classwork into a broader context, transforming knowledge into experience for lasting impact and changed perspective. Through their support of our diverse programs and classes, our donors have recognized the surprising yet crucial links between the fine arts and many other professions, from military to law and beyond, that add another dimension to the leadership skills of our graduates. - Tiffany R. Silverman, Assistant Professor The Citadel School of Humanities and Social Sciences A joint venture between the Fine Arts program and Criminal Justice department brought FBI trainer Amy Herman to campus, where she led more than two hundred participants in highly participatory problem-solving exercises designed to sharpen visual perception skills. Cadets collaborated with graduate students, faculty and staff, College of Charleston students, and officers from local police departments to sharpen their perception skills. Support of the
