Excelling in the classroom and on the playing field,
Grace shows that the lessons learned in the classroom,
in the laboratory, and on the soccer field apply to life
after The Citadel, as her career goal is to become a
pediatric oncologist. Without scholarship support,
reaching that goal would be far more difficult.
Contributing to academic and athletics scholarships
moves The Citadel closer to its goal of building firstclass leaders equipped to serve in all walks of life.
“
During my experience at The Citadel, I have met
wonderful people who are supportive and impact my
life positively. I am so grateful for my scholarships,
which have alleviated some of the financial burden
of tuition.

The Citadel Athletics
“The model cadet athlete.” Those are the words women’s
soccer coach Bob Winch uses to describe Cadet Grace
Raines, a biochemistry major and rising senior from
Snellville, GA. In addition to serving as the captain
of the soccer team and the recipient of a Women’s
Soccer Athletics Scholarship, Grace is the recipient
of the Debbie and Chris Swain, ’81 Scholarship, a
merit-based scholarship given to students majoring in
biology or chemistry who are the best and brightest of
their peers. Originally a member of Romeo Company,
Grace has been appointed to serve on Regimental Staff
as the Regimental Academic Officer during her senior
year.
