Excelling in the classroom and on the playing field, Grace shows that the lessons learned in the classroom, in the laboratory, and on the soccer field apply to life after The Citadel, as her career goal is to become a pediatric oncologist. Without scholarship support, reaching that goal would be far more difficult. Contributing to academic and athletics scholarships moves The Citadel closer to its goal of building firstclass leaders equipped to serve in all walks of life. “ During my experience at The Citadel, I have met wonderful people who are supportive and impact my life positively. I am so grateful for my scholarships, which have alleviated some of the financial burden of tuition. - Cadet Grace Raines, ’15 The Citadel Athletics “The model cadet athlete.” Those are the words women’s soccer coach Bob Winch uses to describe Cadet Grace Raines, a biochemistry major and rising senior from Snellville, GA. In addition to serving as the captain of the soccer team and the recipient of a Women’s Soccer Athletics Scholarship, Grace is the recipient of the Debbie and Chris Swain, ’81 Scholarship, a merit-based scholarship given to students majoring in biology or chemistry who are the best and brightest of their peers. Originally a member of Romeo Company, Grace has been appointed to serve on Regimental Staff as the Regimental Academic Officer during her senior year.
