The scholarship was first awarded in 2013 to Byron
Brooks, who is pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical
Counseling. After graduation, Mr. Brooks says, “I
want to attain a Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology
so I may address the various healthcare disparities that
minorities face.” He is honored to be the first recipient
of The Citadel Graduate College Scholarship. Support
of The Citadel Graduate College Scholarship and other
academic scholarships changes lives in countless ways.
“
The Citadel has not only afforded me with the
skills and education to be a successful, competent
professional, but also provided me with an ample
amount of experience in conducting and presenting
research to be a successful scholar.

The Citadel Graduate College
The Citadel Graduate College Scholarship was
initiated by COL Allison Dean Love and The Citadel
Foundation. This fund was established to provide
resources to support a Citadel Graduate College
student who stays true to the beliefs and core values
set forth by The Citadel. The scholarship is awarded
to a student who demonstrates financial need as
determined by the Office of Financial Aid and must
maintain the traditionally high standards of The
Citadel: promoting strong ability, character, and
dedication to the program.
