These programs received national recognition
through the college’s selection to the 2013
President’s Higher Education Community Service
Honor Roll. In October 2013, The Citadel also
received the Washington Center 2013 Higher
Education Civic Engagement Award as one of
only five colleges in the country selected for this
distinction. Support of the Krause Center for
Leadership and Ethics helps to seamlessly integrate
leadership opportunities and events into each of
the four years of The Citadel experience.
“
The leadership training events organized by the Krause Center have
played an enormous role in developing me into the ethical leader I am
today. From visiting Boeing to walk through the fuselage of a 787 to being
trained by professionals from the institute for global ethics, all these events
have added significant value to the classroom and military environment
of The Citadel, contributing to my development as a principled leader.

The Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics
As part of its 25th reunion campaign, the Class of
1988 raised funds to support the annual budget
of the Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics
for the next several years. On Leadership Day
in fall 2013, each sophomore participated in one
of many approved community service, training,
and team leadership experiences throughout the
Lowcountry.
