refer you to the text box for a definition. We want to be the same (we know we’re better but we’ll start with the same for now). We want to get to a point where people don’t see sexuality as an issue or a defining quality.

Even when people are trying to be supportive it can come off as a bit......well.....wrong, for want of a better word. When I came out some people came up to congratulate me, how awkward, I had no idea what to say! For me it was the equivalent of them saying ‘Congratulations, I heard you have blue eyes, well done you!’ Thank you, I had NOTHING to do with it. So can we really get mad at Actors and Musicians for not wanting to come out? I mean people can pretend it doesn’t affect the way people see them but it’s simply not true. Even people who tell us they ‘don’t care that you’re Gay’ (thanks for that by the way, I don’t care that you’re straight, so there!) even those people still feel a need to comment, to define. The very act of deciding to be ok about someone’s sexuality is a judgement. It’s not your place to comment on fundamental elements of others. I suppose that is what we strive for when we speak of equality, to be treated the same. The same rights, the same marriage, the same respect. We may all have different coloured eyes but we still all see the same things. SME
