ChiroSecure Spotlight

Dr . Stu Hoffman is a Life University alumnus and the principal of ChiroSecure . “ I am in the malpractice insurance world , but I am a chiropractor first ,” he said . “ This makes me unique in the malpractice world because when doctors call with an issue , I know exactly what is going on in their office and can help coach many of them to deescalate first .”
Dr . Hoffman is passionate about helping chiropractors navigate their businesses and avoid malpractice issues . He graduated in 1981 and chose Life University because of its founder , Dr . Sid Williams . In the office , Dr . Hoffman is often asked how many LIFE shirts he has because he wears a different one almost every day . “ I probably have about 18 of them because every time I come to the school , I go to the [ Life U Shop ] and see if they have any new ones ,” he explained . “ There have been times where I come and buy a couple dozen of them to give out to all the people in our office . Even if we have a relationship with several chiropractic schools , LIFE is my school .”
Dr . Hoffman is very passionate about assisting the next generation of chiropractors at LIFE . “ When I show up on campus , I want everyone to know why I am there ,” he said . “ I don ’ t need to be there , but I am there to give back to support and educate future chiropractors to stick together .”
“ The day I graduated I started , and have continued ever since , to give back ,” noted Dr . Hoffman . “ I go and speak at the school every quarter , and whenever I have the opportunity to be in front of students , I always remind them to never forget where you come from . As a result of that , you give back .” Dr . Hoffman also suggested that serving LIFE after graduation doesn ’ t always have to be financial — he said even referring a patient to LIFE to join the next generation of chiropractors is a great way to contribute to LIFE ’ s mission .
ChiroSecure is chiropractic malpractice insurance that provides chiropractors with an insurance policy that is the most reliable and affordable . “ We feel very blessed that we have done so well in adapting to current events ,” said Dr . Hoffman . He shared that it has been a challenge from so many different points of view to honor the chiropractors he covers with their views while also needing to protect their licenses . “ As chiropractors , our philosophy about a disease or virus and what the medical community , state and national governments decide to do is generally going to conflict ,” he said . “ Our thoughts and philosophical tenets may not align , but we are healthcare providers and have to follow the CDC guidelines , our state board mandates , as well as local and state mandates for business owners .”
He gave a recent example of what this looks like in practice . “ Just the other day , I had someone tell me they have a patient who doesn ’ t want to mask , but it is mandated in their area that you must wear one ,” he shared . “ Unfortunately , even if it goes against our beliefs , their license would be at stake if they didn ’ t follow local , state , federal and licensing board decisions . So their job , in that case , is to tell their patient that they respect their view and can serve them once the situation changes .”
Dr . Hoffman believes ChiroSecure is suited for any situation that occurs because one of the most common reasons we have success is the ability to adapt to a changing time and your environment . “ Not that we change the chiropractic principle , but that we pivot based on the circumstances of current events ,” he said . “ At ChiroSecure , we ’ ve had to do that over and over again through the years , so we have a lot of practice adapting to the changing needs of our customers . We want to make sure our insurers are protected , informed and have some flexibility .”
Dr . Hoffman believes the best way to protect and grow your practice is to give back to your local community and serve with Lasting Purpose . “ That was something that Sid Williams taught me , and I never forgot it ,” he said . “ It ’ s not all about money ; sometimes it is about time or about referring patients to the school . Outflow creates inflow . Getting yourself out in your community will always create new patients .”
