Envisioning our 2040 Strategic Plan
SOME HISTORY : In 2002 , Life University encountered a trauma from which few educational institutions have ever recovered . When Dr . Riekeman accepted the position of President in 2004 , a team of trusted academic and business professionals joined him . Together with the Board of Trustees , Life University re-established its accreditation with commendations from the regional and programmatic accrediting agencies .
THE 2020 PLAN : In 2006 , LIFE embarked on an audacious vision titled the 2020 Strategic Plan to establish itself as the pre-eminent chiropractic college in the world and to expand the undergraduate and graduate programs to national prominence . The plan worked . As we near the 2020 goal line , it has become prudent to develop a new Strategic Plan to move the University to its next iteration and destined level of success .
NEXT STEPS : In 2018 , the Life University Board of Trustees requested that Chancellor Riekeman envision a future , design a process and organize a team to develop a strategic plan to guide the University to even greater levels of success over the next two decades .
ANALYZE the last 14 years of the 2020 Strategic Plan and dig into what worked , what didn ’ t work as expected and discover what we could learn from the incredible journey the Institution has traveled .
Summer 2019
ENGAGE the entire LIFE community to share their ideas , hopes , aspirations and projects for a 2040 vision of the best Life University .
Create a framework for the 2040 Strategic Plan by October 2019 .
SYNTHESIZE all of the data and present to the Board of Trustees a draft plan for them to review , debate and ultimately approve .
THE 2040 TIMELINE : Even though December 2020 seemed far away , the team knew that to analyze the last 14 years and develop a comprehensive plan for the next 20 years would take time , if done correctly . The following timeline was developed .
Complete the analysis of the 2020 plan by Summer 2019 .

Create a draft of the final proposed plan for the Board of Trustees to debate and approve in early 2020 .
REVIEWING THE 2040 PROCESS
Dr . Riekeman created a process that would include three key steps :

Engage the LIFE Community in contributing their ideas beginning in late 2018 and complete the process by October 2019 .
