Global Initiatives : Spreading LIFE Around the Globe

China Since last year , Life University has expanded our China team with an additional doctor and provided chiropractic care at the 2018 and 2019 China national games , 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia and several World Championships in both Asia and Europe . We are planning an expansion of Team China to include more teams , and we will provide additional services , such as sports nutrition and sports psychology , under the chiropractic umbrella in a new facility in preparation for both the 2020 and 2022 Olympics .
As for Kaifeng , we are currently in the process of applying for recognition of Chiropractic as a distinct profession in China through the government , which will hopefully include license , legislation and labor laws .
Costa Rica Life University ’ s Global Initiatives in Costa Rica have focused all efforts on expanding chiropractic care and creating spinal screening campaigns that will allow Costa Rican people to know about the benefits of Chiropractic .
At this moment , there is a chiropractic clinic at UNIBE Hospital . UNIBE is both a private hospital and also UNIBE University of Health Sciences . Global Initiatives created an agreement to expand chiropractic care with their assistance .
The Costa Rica initiative also has a program titled Giving and Serving that is founded on the guiding principle of Lasting Purpose at Life University . In this program , we currently have two Costa Rican students at LIFE : Gabriela Alpizar and Deylin Solano . The program has also provided chiropractic care to Olympic athletes and participants in sport events since 2006 . LIFE has agreements with the government of Costa Rica , ICODER , CAJA ( National Insurance ) and the country ’ s Olympic Committee .
This is the first time LIFE has had a chiropractic clinic at a private institution . The chiropractor in charge is Dr . Zoila Stewart , and the Chiropractic Assistant is Ashley Elizondo . Stewart was an
Olympic athlete who studied at LIFE , and she will be entered in the inaugural Life University Athletics Hall of Fame on November 1 at Life University .
All these projects have been under the supervision of Vice President of Global Initiatives Dr . John Downes , who has been working for years to keep the visions of Dr . Sid Williams and Dr . Riekeman alive and to spread Chiropractic globally through Life University . There are only 20 chiropractors registered in Costa Rica , although it is one of the few countries where Chiropractic is recognized as a primary health care service and chiropractors are regulated by law .

Dr . Tedros Adhanom , Director General of the World Health Organization ( WHO ), along with other highlevel WHO and global health official delegates , were in attendance at the preconference event hosted by the Alliance for Health Promotion ( A4HP ) in Geneva , Switzerland .
Of particular importance to all health advocacy practitioners , the WHO created a new division called Healthier Populations , which is headed by Assistant Director General Dr . Naoko Yamamoto . This transformational approach is the new direction the world is embracing for health promotion through lifestyle modification and salutogenic activities .
“ This is a definite breakthrough ,” says Dr . Hussein Elsangak , Life University senior faculty member
