Laura embraces the idea of providing support for all
children, along with a growth mindset for both children and
staff, and the belief that “We” is greater than “I.”
Matthew
(Matt) Johnson,
Mountain View
High School’s
new principal,
won’t need a
tour when he
takes on his new
position since
he graduated
from that very
school in 1992.
After that,
he obtained
his degree in History and Zoology, as well as his Masters
in Teaching, from the University of Washington, and
Administrative credential from City University. He then
returned to the district to teach and coach at Heritage
High School and then Union High School when it opened.
He subsequently became Dean of Students, then Associate
Principal, at Union. He and his wife have two children
attending Evergreen schools, and when they aren’t doing
“kid activities,” they enjoy boating skiing and cheering
on the Huskies. With his longtime Evergreen experience,
his firm belief is “students can achieve high standards
if they have a caring and supportive environment with
excellent teachers and support staff…and I look forward to
continuing on the tradition of excellence at Mountain View.”
