ITALY
Italians are passionate about food, fashion, art and
architecture and dedicate themselves to living life well.
Stroll around any Italian city and you will immediately sense the vast history of this alluring
country. Spend a day exploring your new home and the history books will come alive as you
get to experience up close the wonders of the ancient Roman world. Even small villages often
boast cathedrals and monuments dating back thousands of years.
"I land and am warmly greeted by my host mum, dad
and brother, holding a lovely welcome sign. Being in
previous contact beforehand allowed the
conversations in the car to take off and occupy us
until we got home. Looking back, the exchange
made me grow my confidence in discussion and
communication, broadened my understanding of
cultural diversity and satisfied my craving for
adventure."
- Kiran from Auckland went to Italy.
Delicious Food
When you think of Italy images spring to mind of delicious pizzas and pastas and you will
certainly get to enjoy these during your exchange, along with much, much more. You will
find many regional variations among the Italian cuisine and your host family will take great
joy in introducing you to these. Wherever you are placed you are certain to be spoilt with
mouth-watering breads, cheeses and decadent desserts.
Family Ties
Italians are known for their warmth and the importance they place on family bonds. An
