President of Mister Quik Home Services. “One of these programs is an annual food drive for the Faith Hope and Love Community, which provides food for local families. This past year we collected over 5,000 food items just through our team members internally.” PLANE PULL & TOYS FOR TOTS STAND TO HONOR in the military, so it’s important to us to be able to help other veterans in our community,” says Robertson. According to Nicole Rosentreter, Call Center Manager, community needs will drive what projects team members participate in as well. “When hurricanes hit the southern United States, we put together a campaign to collect cases of water,” says Nicole. “We not only had great company involvement but we posted on social media asking for people to drop off cases of water, and we even offered to pick up water donations from individuals. We had such a great response! We hope to encourage more community involvement and get others to come out and join us in giving back.” Two other ongoing projects for the Mister Quik team are the annual Plane Pull in August, which benefits the Special Olympics, and the Toys for Tots program in December, which distributes toys to area kids at Christmas time. “These are programs that are important to all of us, and we’ve been fortunate to always exceed our donations from prior years,” stated Huff. CAMP POSSABILITY In 2018, the Mister Quik team plans to expand their reach into the world community. They will be participating in a used-tool drive this February to support the Malawi Project, a humanitarian organization headquartered here in Indianapolis that focuses on helping make the African nation of Malawi a self-sustaining community. The Malawi Tool Drive will be providing used tools to young Malawis that have acquired the skills of carpentry but are unable to support themselves due to a lack of sufficient tools. “These used tools can make such a difference to a young person in Malawi,” says Richard Stephens, cofounder of the Malawi Project. “It gives an individual the opportunity to be self-sufficient, not to mention the feeling of self-worth and satisfaction they can derive from their accomplishments.” Mister Quik team members also look for ways throughout the year in which their talents and resources can benefit others. The Mister Quik team was approached by Camp PossAbility at Bradford Woods last year with the need for a new air conditioning system before camp started. The Mister Quik website will have a calendar-of-giving for 2018 programs with links to events and more information on how people can get involved. “Anyone who wants to get involved can do so by offering their time, talent, or expertise,” states Rosentreter. “We would love to work together to help our community!” You can join the Mister Quik MALAWI team and make 2018 your TOOL DRIVE year of action while giving back to the community. “The heat in the Carr Center [due to a broken a/c unit], a main ‘hub’ for our camp, prevented some campers from enjoying activities and made some campers feel ill because it affected their medical conditions,” stated Lauren Harmison, Founder and Board Vice President of Camp PossAbility, a program supporting young adults ages 18 to 35 with physical disabilities. “Mister Quik donated a five-ton unit and installed it the day we arrived for camp. We are beyond thankful to Brad, Jamie, and the Mister Quik team for supporting this amazing place and helping ‘make obstacles end and PossAbility begin.’” “Many of the programs in which we participate are ones that we continue with year after year,” stated Brad Huff, 5
