IMO Working Group

In 2022 , YoungShip International submitted its application to the International Maritime Organization ( IMO ) for obtaining the consultative status of the IMO .
While we were very close to obtaining the status , our application was unfortunately rejected . However , we plan to reapply for consultative status in 2023 and in that regard , we have established Committees and a separate web page for the IMO Working Group to improve our chances .
As a consultative member , YoungShip will provide the IMO with the young professionals ’ perspective and views to strengthen inclusion and diversity , facilitate the integration of young professionals in the maritime industry , and promote maritime career development for young professionals . Specifically , we aim to promote education , increase community awareness on shipping , environmental issues , sustainability and green shipping , and work in conjunction with the IMO towards its goals .
With a broad membership base , YoungShip ’ s contribution will be important for the development of young professionals in the maritime industry and achieving the IMO ’ s sustainability goals .
