You only need three legs
People across the world spend endless hours and energy trying to run after & acquire, in most cases the "wrong things"money, fame, prestige, career progression, material assets etc. This is despite the fact, that long standing research has
shown, and proven, that the true source of happiness and inner peace is not money and how many Ferraris or
Lamborghini's you have or how many homes you have in Beverly Hills, London or Costa Rica- a recent published
research conducted by Harvard University which tracked and observed people over 75 years, conclusively indicated that
true happiness is based on the quality of the relationships you had over your life and how you nurtured them, fed them and
cultivated them.
Jim Carrey, the famous actor in a speech said it well- I want people to be very successful and make lots of money and
acquire lots of material assets that are epitomes of RRD (rust, rot & depreciate) over time, just so that once they've done
that, they can realize that their pursuit of happiness was all wrong and did not lead them to innate contentment, bliss or
self-actualization. What is then, the path to happiness, contentment and bliss?
Based on my experiences over the last 40 or so years having lived and worked across multiple countries, continents,
geographies and regions, and having interacted with people at different stages of their respective lives, true happiness is a
multi-variate and exponential function of three principal and foundational tenets- health, love & relationships. Money will
come (not a crazy amount of money, but just enough to satisfy the 3 basic needs on Maslow's hierarchy of needs- food,
clothing and shelter). Why then, are the majority of 7.2 Billion people across the world focusing on the wrong thingsobsessing over the accumulation and garnering of RRD assets (as defined earlier) rather than cultivating and fertilizing the
intangibles....
